Sports Massage

What is Sports Massage?

Sports massage is not just for sporty people, everyone can benefit from a Sports Massage.

A treatment targeted for muscle aches and pains, and soft tissue dysfunction. Various techniques are used as outlined below, to treat superficial and  deep soft tissue.

A sports massage is not always a quick fix, you may need to commit to a treatment plan, depending on the issue, how long you’ve had the problem.  From experience you usually need 1 to 3 treatments initially x 1 a week, to get on top of the issue.  Treatments can then be spaced apart i.e. 2 weeks, then 3 weeks till the issue is resolved.

A monthly maintenance massage is then advised, so that you maintain the benefits of the massage and do not return to how you were.

Some people, have weekly, every 2/3/4/6 weeks, to suit them.

Effleurage, petrissage, striping, frictions, compressions and tapotement as well as passive stretching and exercises are  various massage techniques used.
